For security teams on the front lines and those of us in the business of stopping cyberattacks and breaches, 2021 provided no rest for the weary. In the face of massive disruption brought about by the COVID- driven social, economic and technological shifts of 2020, adversaries refined their tradecraft to become even more sophisticated and brazen. We discuss key data points and how our industry is combatting the adversarial plague.
When the scales are tipped in an attacker's favour and teams don't have the time to do it all, traditional SecOps approaches to implement detection and response capabilities can add to the chaos.
In this session, we will explore the necessary evolution of detection and response, moving past SIEM, to fulfill the desire for something better. You'll learn how XDR, powered by unique collaborators like Rapid7 and Mimecast can give you the freedom to focus on what matters most.
Michael Ferguson, Netskope SSE Evangelist, will talk about how the new security architecture of Security Services Edge will provide businesses with outcomes and capabilities we haven't had before. During his session Michael Ferguson will discuss the potential of Context Based Policies to deliver Zero Trust Frameworks, AI/ML to assist your team in protecting your digital assets in the cloud, and how cloud based access doesn't need to have a trade-off in performance, experience or security.
Ken has over 20 years of experience leading product development and consulting in information security and ITSM disciplines as a vendor, consultant and customer. He currently serves Rapid7 as regional CTO, Asia-Pacific. At Rapid7, Ken has led vulnerability management products and the platform services underlying the entire Rapid7 portfolio. Prior to Rapid7 he was a product leader in digital forensics and incident response where he drove development and technical partnerships for products adopted by every US federal agency, law enforcement globally and over half of the Fortune 100.

In 2022, he established Cybermindz.org, a not-for-profit pioneering effective and scalable mental health support services for embattled cyber teams and related professions.
Email and collaboration are where work happens— they’re also where risk is concentrated. Mass consolidation on a handful of cloud platforms like Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace has created irresistible targets; and malicious actors target them relentlessly, using the top attack vector — email — to deliver everything from phishing to ransomware.
A deep dive into the neuroscience driving burnout in cyber teams and why their situation is probably unique among all professions. What the research is telling us about burnout and how that will translate into a worsening skills deficit.
And what can be done to reverse the trend to restore resilience, morale and renewed connection with mission and purpose. Bonus: A short practical demonstration of the iRest protocol.
Cyber Resilience in Healthcare Can Literally Be a Matter of Life or Death: Fireside Chat With Mater Group
As a security leader attending this session, you are aware of the critical role you play in safeguarding sensitive information in the healthcare industry. With patient data on the line, the healthcare sector is particularly susceptible to cyber-attacks. In this fireside chat with the Mater Group, you'll delve into the difficulties faced by healthcare organisations in their journey towards cyber resilience and uncover best practices for protecting patient information.
By listening to real-world examples and insights from a leading healthcare provider, you will gain valuable knowledge on how to construct a robust and effective cybersecurity strategy that minimises risks and guarantees the continuous delivery of vital healthcare services.
As businesses continue to move more workloads and sensitive data to the cloud, it is essential they understand how the cloud is being used as a new attack vector.
As the next wave of cloud continues to evolve, every business needs to ensure their security controls follow sensitive data as well as the employees interacting with it - regardless of location.
Join this Netskope session to learn how the next generation of security can protect your business from the evolving attack surface accelerated by hybrid working and cloud adoption.
In this session, the panelists will discuss how to better protect Australia’s cybersecurity and delve into the recent surge in data breaches across various industries, including telecoms, health, energy, retail, and real estate. The number of attacks has risen 13% over the past year, with 77% of companies surveyed affected by ransomware according to Mimecast's State of Email Security Report 2022. The panelists will also address the need for CISOs and CIOs to consider how to respond to a breach and manage risk better in the future. They will provide insights on factors leading to the breaches, the CISO's duty of care, and best practices in incident response and attack surface management.
Protect Data - Data Resilience in Cyber-Attacks, Data Governance in Bau: Fireside Chat With Bill Tanner, Chief Information Officer at Allens
This session is a fireside chat with Bill Tanner, Chief Information Officer at Allens that will focus on the importance of protecting data in the face of increasing cyber-attacks and the role of data governance in day-to-day business operations.
Bill will share his insights and experiences on how Allens has approached data protection, including how to have continuity in business operations in the event of a data breach.
Compromised credentials account for over 90% of security breaches, and an increasing number of these breaches happen internally. With the recent increase in layoffs, disgruntled employees are another threat vector that often goes unnoticed until it is too late. Organizations are at risk of losing IP or data with severe financial consequences. In cases of bad actors who secured valid credentials through phishing, they often hide for months without detection and sometimes convert to ransomware.
This session will cover three strategies to protect your organization from insider threats that involve stolen or misused credentials. We will highlight technologies like user and entity behavior analytics (UEBA), AI and machine learning, and employee awareness training.
Topics include:
• Ways to detect and deter external and internal email-based threats
• The importance of behavioral analytics to detect abnormal behavior
• The benefits of security automation to optimize IT resources
• How to respond and mitigate further data breaches
During this session, you will join a panel of cyber leaders who will share their real-world experiences and insights on the current landscape and emerging threats in the field of cybersecurity. They will provide case studies of how they faced and overcome challenges in this area.
You will have the opportunity to engage in an interactive discussion with them, where you can ask questions and gain valuable insights on best practices for cyber resilience, data protection, and compliance. By learning from the experiences of the panelists, you will be able to better protect your own organisation from cyber threats.
With over 90% of cyberattacks attributed to human error, cybersecurity training should be more than just a tick-box exercise. The goal of any cyber awareness training program is to influence user actions and reduce your organisations’ risk of a breach.
This session will take a deep-dive into the science behind influencing behavioural change, the compliance vs budget challenge, what are the key components of effective Awareness Training programs, how to measure effectiveness and what we can expect from the industry in 2023 and beyond.
In this world, people – and their identities – become the new perimeter. When people are the perimeter, identity becomes the foundation of a Zero Trust security model, the central control point across users, devices and their networks.
Between unsecured home WiFi networks and the rise in personal devices accessing company resources, the opportunities for data theft have risen as teams have dispersed.
In this session, we’ll discuss why organisations are taking an identity - first approach to a zero trust security strategy without compromising user experience.
